The Tale of the Dancing Bear
| There were some jobs that were boring, there were some that were embarrassing, and then you had the boring and embarrassing ones. Like playing the mascot to get people’s attention to a store. It was stuffy in the bear’s costume, and clearly the guy before him sweated in there. Hiroto might have smelled worse in his life and he wasn’t one to complain even when forced to basically wear another man’s sweat, but this gig ought to be amongst the worst he has ever had.
There was something even more annoying than the heat and it was those making fun when not downright kicking the mascots. What could a teddy bear have done to them to generate this much hate, Hiroto would never understand. Then again, he was just as suspicious of those wanting a hug with him but at least he didn't end up with a wounded leg in the process.
He had been at it for a little while and he couldn’t say that people really stopped today. He was not really surprised but this was getting boring. There was nothing worse than standing there like an idiot in a bear costume. Hiroto decided to have some fun with this then. Instead of simply waving towards the store to attract people, he started to dance. His movements couldn’t be as fluid and interesting than what he normally did but a few swings of the arms and legs allowed him to test the limit of his outfit.
In truth, he was certain the dance was silly. But it was still better than doing nothing but wave at people and point towards a shop. And it got people stop and stare. So he continued, getting into it. It even allowed him to forget about the sweaty smell. As for adding some of his in there for the next lucky guy, he couldn’

It had been a pretty quiet day at the store so far. The only people Lei had seen so far were the regulars who came to get their morning coffee just like they do everyday and she knew the names and favorite drinks of all of them. There were some who liked to try something new every other day but they let her decide what to make. It was nice working at Urban Coffee even though there were rude tourists from time to time. But they never really had any issues with the locals considering everyone tended to knew everyone in this small town. It might be a cliche but it was true.
While leaning forward on the counter, her elbows propped up on the wooden surface, something - or rather someone - caught her eye. Dark brown eyes looked out of the window front watching a fluffy bear dancing in front of another store. A laugh escaped her lips because it was too cute. She had seen this kind of advertising before but it was usually people in those customes handing out flyers but none of the ones she had seen started dancing.
She kind of felt sorry for whoever was stuck in the costume. Asking her coworker if it would be okay to take a short break she casually prepared two different beverages, poured them into the takeaway cups and closed the lids. Balancing both of them on her left hand she grabbed two straws and then made her way out of the coffee shop, pushing the door open with her shoulder.
"Umm would you like a drink?" she asked with a hesistant smile on her face as she offered the bear both cold drinks to let him decide which one he preferred - if he even wanted one that is.
Hiroto Kirishima I hope this is okay <3 You can choose what kind of drink it should be if he accepts one lmao! No need to though, ignoring is fine too LOL

The Tale of the Dancing Bear
| The plan worked, people stopped. Maybe they were not interested in the shop per se, but they stopped. Anyway, Hiroto doubted the true effect of a mascot trying to get people to walk in a store and buy their stuff. It had to be only to torture the poor guys who had to wear such costumes. Somehow, it also made people want to interact in a more positive way with him. Some even wanted to dance with him. He didn’t get the point, but if they wanted to make fools of themselves with him, he wouldn’t stop them. He didn't forget to wave towards the shop every now and then, as if gently pushing them to go in.
The dance had another advantage. Standing still for an hour was always more painful to him than to walk for the same amount of time. Even if his movements were limited, it was still a lot better than just standing there and make signs at the people to come in.
People eventually tired of the dance. They constantly needed something new to catch their attention. He also couldn’t blame them if a guy dancing in a bear costume didn’t make them spend more time around. There was always a flow of people pouring in the street anyway. He couldn’t see the time, so he didn’t know if he could take a break right now. He tried not to think about it and stayed in his own little bubble. He had no song in his head while he danced but he kept thinking to himself that he must look ridiculous and whispered thoughts of the like on some sort of rhythm. He was making his own little song with silly lyrics that no one could hear. Maybe it was better that way.
He stopped and stared at the girl. His vision was a bit limited with the head on, so was what he could hear but he noticed the tray she had in her arms. She was offering him a drink. He nodded, the big bear head bobbling back and forth. He then worked on removing said head. If he was not supposed to, he didn’t care. This little exercise made him hot. And thirsty. “Thank you,” he told her as he placed the head down by his feet. He was also thankful she thought about the straw because he didn’t have a firm grip on the cp with his paws.
