[attr="class","largeleft"] [attr="class","largehover"] [attr="class","uglyhoverinside"] [attr="class","bioheader"]about. [attr="class,"bioentry"] first and foremost, nicole is a dreamer. she dreams of travelling the world and having adventures and seeing all the wonderful places. in this sense, she is a bit naive. not a lot of terrible things happen in delphin bay, or at least, in the aldana household. her eyes are firmly covered by her slightly overprotective mother, who worries for her carefree only daughter. nicole doesn't know a lot about responsibility and pressure. it's not that she's irresponsible, just that she's a bit of the more flowing-wherever-the-river-goes sort of person. she would be easy to influence if she had a lot of influence in her life - as it is, she has a few solid friends but none that she would really get into trouble with. she's a reader, a writer, and an artist. she loves any form of colour, and she can fall in love with the written word. her mother, poor worrying soul that she is, doesn't even have a tv in the house because she's worried what the 'outside world' will do to her daughter. nicole, for her part, has never wanted for anything more than what her mother can give her. what nicole knows of the world outside of delphin bay is only what's been told to her by her books. this star-eyed wanderer has a romantic view of the world - she dreams of the muggy forests of the amazon and the wonders of the sahara and the jungle of new york city, but she doesn't think of the dangers of any of these places. for this, most people think she's too innocent. hence, she's not really included in any of the wild partying or all the usual rebellious things teenagers do. and to be honest, that's quite fine by her. nicole doesn't see what's so interesting about getting so drunk and stumbling around the front of insomnia with one's hair a-mess and lipstick all over their face. for her, the world within the books is far more fascinating than anything her small town can offer. she's not the type to really pursue that sort of dream, though. to be honest, nicole is comfortable in her small town universe, even though she does want to go out and explore the world. for one, she can't leave her mother, because her mother would probably have an egg if nicole ever brought up the topic of leaving the nest. nicole would never begrudge her mother that, though. this girl is an absolute sweetheart who's never known heartache or pain, and maybe she's fine with that for now. if an adventure landed at her feet, though, nicole would never say no. [attr="class","bioheader"]history. [attr="class,"bioentry"] nicole doesn't really know what it's like to have a huge family. born and raised in delphin bay, she never knew her father. he was a city person, her mother always said. he had only come to delphin bay for some business meeting, never really planned on sticking around. nicole was the result of a week-long fling where her mother fell in love, but her father didn't. her mother always insisted that she'd told her father about his daughter, but when he left delphin bay, he never looked back. her mother never really fell in love with anyone else. she busied herself with working at the grocery shop, where everyone and their grandchildren could see mr porter who did the fresh fish deliveries every few days was rather smitten with her, and had been, for the last three years. nicole often tried to bring this up with her mother, but she'd only get a shushing gesture from her mother who would then turn away and pretend to do some chore in their spotless house. but nicole would always see that secret little smile her mother had whenever mr porter was brought up in conversation. in school, nicole did fairly well, considering the amount of time she'd spend doodling or staring dreamily out the window imagining scenarios or picturing scenes of her latest book. she was terrible at maths and science, but her english teacher raved about her work. irritatingly, her should-be-favourite class was marred by her ridiculous teacher and his view on how things should look. nicole always drew outside the box, and very well so, might she add - something her art teacher was always frustrated about. maybe he was just bitter because he had to be stuck teaching high school students how to draw while his brother the architect was in some high-flying career path in the city. yeah, everyone knew everyone's business, and they liked to talk about it, too. nicole doesn't really have any real 'drive' to achieve things or set goals for herself. she knows she wants to do something in the future, maybe as an author or as an artist, but there's not a lot of opportunities for those in the small world she knew. still, she rolled easily into university, taking a bachelor of fine arts, but she's thinking of maybe changing her course to an english degree. she's not sure yet, though, and she's in no rush to be sure just yet. her few friends are doing different things, so she's looking forward to meeting some new ones in her classes. maybe someone would finally 'get' her and click into her universe. [attr="class","bioheader"]loves and hobbies. [attr="class,"bioentry"] nothing really gets nicole going like a good book. her favourite genre is fantasy, with more than a little bit of romance thrown in. she can lose herself in the pages of a book for days on end, and sometimes she surfaces to find out the world has moved on without her. she's quite fine with this, because the adventure she's had is usually worth it. at the moment, her absolute favourite book is stardust, and sometimes she feels she's like a star fallen into a world where nothing really suits her. nicole also sometimes likes to sing, although never in public. a bit of a shy girl, nicole usually likes to hide out near the edge of the forest or by a hidden alcove by the beach, or just in her room, singing whatever little snippets of the last song she heard. her mother has a radio she still uses to this day, and as nicole's phone is a very basic machine used primarily for calling and texting with no youtube access, the radio is what nicole sings with. her mother's taste - acoustic ballads - is pretty much all she listens to, and nicole would probably fall in love with a boy who plays acoustic guitar for her. she's not much into getting dirty, but gardening is something she helps her mother with. it's always interesting watching plants grow from seeds. she also enjoys going to the beach, pretty much like everyone in delphin bay, but too much sun irritates her skin so she's usually banished to the shade when it gets too hot. she also enjoys playing the two songs she knows on piano in the auditorium at the university - more often than not, she'd rather listen in the shadows when one of the music majors play. music transports her to different universes, and she loves the emotions the notes invoke in her. [attr="class","bioheader"]dislikes and loathes. [attr="class,"bioentry"] nicole dislikes anything dirty. she is especially not fond of things that are unhygienic - her classmates used to tease her as being a germophobe, which she thinks is unfair but doesn't say out loud. it's not like she has to wipe all the surfaces down before she uses it. in fact, she's not even as 'crazy' as her mother, who obsessively cleans when she gets home from work. why spread germs when you don't have to, right? it's really just common sense. she's also not a very big fan of really loud or heavy music. or really loud anything. she doesn't usually go to football matches because she can't stand all the yelling and the emotional force of all the people. nicole is a bit of a gentle soul and too much energy and adrenaline at places like that is not her scene. she's more of a chilled back, laid back, let's all relax sort of person. in any sort of confrontation, even just in the hallways or along the street, nicole does her best to instantly disappear. for the most part, nicole doesn't like meat. 'nothing with a face', something which her friends sometimes tease her about. they also sometimes deliberately arrange her food or manipulate her food to have a face, even when it's just vegetables or an omelette. as she's non-confrontational, she also dislikes people arguing with her about her food choice. she won't scrunch up her nose when she's out with her friends and they eat meat, but if someone tries to get up at her about her dietary beliefs, she will definitely not want to hang out with that person again. for the most part, anything nicole doesn't like, she just avoids. it's rather easy to tell when she's not comfortable - she tends to just keep her distance, smiling slightly so as to not look rude. nicole is a pacifist and a peace-maker, and she's probably adamantly deny 'not liking' something so as to not offend anyone.
