All Tallulah could remember was Jane Austen. At least she knew she got the name right, as evidence the many books with the writer’s name on them in front of her eyes. But that was just the problem, there were so many. Aside from the multiple editions of the same title, she could read quite a few different ones. Emma, Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility... Which one to choose? The woman said she always loved authors from what she called the ‘romantic era’ of English literature. As far as Tallulah could remember, she didn't give any specific title, simply sighed as she recalled Austen. Giving her a gift would prove more difficult than she first thought.
She picked Pride and Prejudice. That sounded like a title she knew of. Or was it Sense and Sensibility? The two were a bit similar, two words starting with the same letter with the word ‘and’ in the middle. She picked it too. Sadly, neither Mister Darcy nor the Dashwood sisters meant anything to her. And they both sounded like romantic stories, so which one would she prefer?
From the corner of her eye, she saw someone who might just be her savior. “Excuse me,” she said to get their attention. She had no idea whether they worked here or just happened to be browsing in the same alley she did but she could ask for their opinion. She showed the two books she was holding, making sure the titles were clear to read. “Which one is better?”
